Re: “The guide to the week's concerts

That's funny, I thought Tres Chicas was headlining the Goathouse cat refuge benefit. Why is the Luego guy's picture up there? It's not his show......shouldn't credit be given where it's due?

Re: “Best of the Triangle 2009

All I was saying is that if it's an "independent" magazine, then they should restrict the results to independent businesses. But as it stands, it is currently a readers poll so sure, I get the point. I personally hope that next year they would consider only independent businesses as the winners....just my personal opinion though, no replies in essay format necessary.

Re: “Best of the Triangle 2009

As an independent newspaper, I can't believe The Guitar Center was even an option in the "best place to buy music gear" know they're the reason that the Music Loft in Durham went OUT OF BUSINESS, right? Next year why don't you just add Wal-Mart to the list too.

Re: “Durham neighborhood may sell to Wal-Mart at Southpoint for $20.5M

WalMart, and everything it stands for, is disgusting. I can't believe anyone is actually considering putting up a new walmart....but then again, it may go perfect with southpoint's little cookie cutter commercialized b.s. excuse of an existence. I guess if it's going to exist, at least keep it all in the same place. Then I'll never have to step foot near it.

Re: “American Aquarium's Dances for the Lonely

I'm not a big AA fan, but I've really enjoyed what I have heard from them in the past. The new album is however, a far step from their old stuff. Seems like most of their stuff was half-heartedly thrown together....pretty generic stuff you'll hear on everyday radio/cmt/etc etc etc. They def had originality in the past.....maybe they're just dried up and struggling to find what got them here in the first place. I think this is understandable's happens to the best of musicians. I think all in all Currin is just disappointed, and this is his reaction. Remember he had them on the Indy top 40 of 2008. Though we may not agree with them, Currin is entitled to his opinions.

On another note, those that have compared BJ's music/lyrics to Springsteen, Dylan, Hold Steady, etc, are spot on, but you missed one! "You ain't Miss Right, but you're Miss Right Now"....come on, gotta give some credit to SR-71 there folks!! Some songwriting genius'! hahahah....just kidding those guys sucked!

Re: “American Idol contestant Anoop Desai gets a warm, if restricted, reception back in Chapel Hill

Who cares. American Idol, and everything it stands for, sucks. Though I'm sure he'll go far, I feel sorry for Anoop and his future music career. Have fun being told what to do by corporate america's music d.bags. Soon, you too, will be playing sold out malls and fairs across america with Bucky.

Re: “The guide to the week's concerts

All those guys from tomahawks, max indian, etc etc etc, are really great musicians and I love their work, but I wish they would just stick with one band. It's hard to keep up with all the different groups they have.
