Re: “How Democrats can reclaim North Carolina government

I am very much familiar with when Jerry Meeks came onboard. I met with him and some black folks heavy hitters whom were interested in starting a 3rd Party but they ended up saying let's work with what was already in place.

And it also worked in 2008 - Obama even thanked Dean and credited his 50-state strategy as being part of what allowed him to win in 2008.

You kind of threw me on the above statement since you had posted about the letter that was sent out. I understand what you are saying about the letter but obviously they didn't shut down and did their own thing or just what are you saying.

I didn't question the letter because I have not seen the letter so I don't dispute that it happened. Again I stand behind that I applaud him for not allowing local folks to run his campaign. I challenged his campaign folks in the meetings I was in because I didn't like what they were saying. Especially about continuing to register folks after the registration time ended instead of allowing folks to do the one-stop. I said oh hell no that would not be beneficial to the local candidates. I totally agree local folks should not have worked only for the President's campaign and should have been concerned about getting all Democrats elected.

I totally agree that all people who collect checks for running campaigns are not involved in party building, that was my point. I understand the difference and is far from being confused.

I totally agree that dedicated Democrats in the Party from the Precinct on up through the State (SEC and State Party officers) must be about getting all Democrats elected. But I have a problem with not enough emphasis being put on elections from the State down because there are not enough meetings held on the county level to help educate and to inform the Precincts and all concerned Democrats about what is going on months before the election. I find it very interesting that the Democratic Women can meet almost monthly when the county parties hardly ever meet but only to conduct business. Damn there should be informational meetings atleast bi-monthly if not monthly. Hell it ain't no information going out to the Democrats from the county to the precincts to the concerned Democrats until the last hour. But then they expect folks to make an informed decision.

If I was a county chair I would be having meetings more often and sending out information to the Democrats in my county. I would be writing letters to the editor and etc.

Oh by the way I heard that President Obama met with former Governor Beverly Perdue and asked her not to run because of the issues that came out about her campaign. This left Walter Dalton trying to pull off the impossible in the last hour. But I didn't get anything in writing on that but I felt like it was some truth to it.

Well all I know is I am waiting to see what Edgecombe County is going to do whereby my county is split between the 1st Congressional District and the 13th District. I am a Precinct Chair I am now in the 13th Congressional District.

Re: “How Democrats can reclaim North Carolina government

I find the following very interesting. "The Obama campaign had a 50 state strategy for Obama ONLY. They told state parties to kill whatever county strategy they had for everyone else so everyone could be poached to work for OFA. I have the e-mail from the NCDP dated early June 2008 effectively killing off the 100 county strategy in NC."

But what kind of strategy did they have in place before 2008?

I know I can speak on Edgecombe County.

I applauded President Obama for not allowing local folks to run his campaign. I have seen how folks who run some campaigns and did nothing but collected a check. This was a brilliant idea.

Okay let's see what kind of plan will be put into action for the 2014 Elections.
