Re: “180 minutes wandering downtown on night one of Raleigh’s outdoor-drinking crackdown

"Two drunk bros outside The Big Easy are about to fight. 'Are you fucking retarded?' one yells. 'Are you fucking retarded?' Apparently the other guy had grabbed a woman's ass."

And here we have the real problem with downtown Raleigh...

Re: “General Assembly opts out of Common Core, against Gov. McCrory's wishes

Let's not forget that Art Pope, who bankrolled all of the GOP candidates in the legislature (as well as McCrory), was made Budget Director by Pat. Pat can say he disagrees with the legislature, but it's just hot air.

Re: “Who's who at Civitas? Let's name names

There is a silver lining to the Civitas Institute's database: it shows that, despite Republican legislators' comments that the Moral Monday protests are accomplishing nothing and will not sway them, the protests and the negative attention they are drawing to our state are clearly a threat to them.

Re: “G105 hangs black man from tow truck in Raleigh Xmas parade

G105 knew what they were doing and the reaction it would cause. It was a cheap and base attempt to gain promotion for their station using the "any press is good press" mode of thinking. Unfortunately, their taste in promotion reflects their taste in music. As for Edge's comment about it being 2012, perhaps he should pick up a newspaper and read about the many voter ID laws being implemented across the country to disenfranchise poor, minority voters. It's also concerning to know that not one member of the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association took action during to parade to remove the truck.

Re: “Chapel Hill: cops vs. anarchists and no one wins

@robg: Do you think everyone who commits a CRIME like speeding should be approached by police aiming assault rifles in their faces? The fact of the matter is that, regardless of whether the protesters did was right/wrong, legal/illegal, the police's response was completely inappropriate. A more appropriate/reasonable response would have been informing them, without pointing assault rifles at them, that they are trespassing and will be arrested if they do not leave the premises immediately, instead of acting like they had a meth lab in the building

Re: “2010 Readers' Choice poll winners

Unfortunate that that racist prick Bob won "Best DJ". He's not even a DJ. Or someone this area should be voting "best of" for anything
