Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

"Reading down through these posts is enlightening. Didn't know this subject elicited so much interest. After reading them I really think that "Bob" needs to get a job, a hobby, a life or all three." Typical ALIPAC tactic. Don't answer questions, attack the critic. That's how W trained them. Now, tell us, what's so "humorous" about paying "rednecks with shotguns" a "$5,000 bounty" on the "head" of every illegal immigrant?

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

Well here's the link again, and direct quotes about a bounty on the head of each illegal immigrant to "rednecks with shotguns." The ALIPAC.US thread still exists to this day. Now why does the president of ALIPAC think this idea is "humorous"? PintoBean: "We know there are laws on the books that if enforced would eliminate the problem...however, everyone will say we do not have the money to enforce said laws, so I have another solution. It is estimated that America's Middle Class loses some 200 Billion dollars a year in depressed wages YEARLY. It is also estimated conservatively that there are 10 Million Illegal Aliens (most from Mexico) here in America. If you put a bounty on the head of each one of say $5,000 you are looking at around $50 Billion dollars if my math at this late hour is correct, or about 1/4 of our lost yearly wages. Now, I can drive up to any corner where day laborers gather and tell them I need ten workers, and they will EAGERLY leap into the back of my pick up truck. 10 times $5,000 is $50,000 for one days work. So, put a bounty on the head of every single illegal alien in this nation, and let the red necks and their shotguns go to can bet in a year this place would be DEVOID of illegal aliens, and the price tag WELL WORTH IT. Pinto Bean" William Gheen, President of ALIPAC ("W"): "Humorous idea Pinto, but I don't think the American public would be happy with a bounty driven illegal alien hunt. Besides, US citizens do not have the ability to determine legal status. Our police, Sheriffs, and Highway Patrol can get this thing turned the right way in short order. W"

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

Alice, yes, birds of the same feather do flock together at ALIPAC.US. Anyone who is pro-reform or shows they are not as xenophobic as the leadership is quickly derided as an "open borders liberal" or "troll" and banned. This explains why there is so little debate at ALIPAC.US, mostly supporters agreeing with each other and mutual congratulations for negative comments about Hispanics. They do not realize how offensive much of their dialog is to others. They do at least remove openly racist posts, not wanting to easily earn the label "racist" but leave many with negative stereotypes of Hispanics - not just illegal immigrants - on their web site, while any posts that refute the negative stereotypes are quickly deleted or edited. I refer to these as "latent racism." David Duke is now posting ALIPAC boycott information, and fully supports ALIPAC. Here's a link:

Wakegal: I can tell you read none of the post about shooting illegal immigrant Mexicans for a $5,000 bonus. I believe the fine people of North Carolina find such hatred offensive. They could do without any of ALIPAC; one less ALIPACer would be an good start. Don't wait for me to come visit; why don't you make your vacation permanent?

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

Sarah, I agree totally. I've been to North Carolina for both business and personal reasons a number of times and always found the people of North Carolina pleasant and congenial. Too bad there is ALIPAC.US, but I refuse to let a small minority of a group shape my opinion of the rest. People everywhere are basically good, despite the actions of a few.

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net Before you accuse me of making the whole thing up, here's a link to the actual thread on ALIPAC. Read starting with the post by PintoBean and continue until the end. ALIPAC's President did actually participate in a discussion about a bounty for illegal immigrant Mexicans, red****s with shotguns solving the problem, etc.

Re: “The illness: Holes in the Latino safety net

If you read my earlier post, I provided ample examples of ALIPACers going nuts over things like brown skinned bus boys in restaurants being illegal immigrants (of course without knowing their legal status), going wild over Betty Crocker instructions in both English and Spanish, Spanish language music in a store, etc. In case you weren't aware, many Hispanic legal immigrants and citizens speak Spanish from day to day, so someone speaking Spanish has no direct correlation to legal status, but going nuts over Spanish usage shows xenophobia, not just opposition to illegal immigration. Here's a link to the original thread again: The one that bothers many the most talks about turning loose "red****s with shotguns" for a $5,000 bounty for illegal immigrant Mexicans. Here's screen shots of the actual thread with explanatory comments added. Note that ALIPAC's President is an active participant in the discussion. Shooting illegal immigrant Mexicans is not humorous, and demonstrates extreme xenophobia, in my honest opinion.
