stuff I wanna See and Do!

Vivaldi's Four Season When: Feb. 13-15, 8 p.m., Feb. 15-16, 2 p.m., Sat., Feb. 22, 8 p.m., Feb. 22-23, 2 p.m., Sat., March 1, 8 p.m. and March 1-2, 2 p.m. Price: $38.25-$78 Not to be confused with Jerome Robbins' ballet of the same name that draws on Verdi's work, the Carolina Ballet's Four Seasons presents choreography inspired by Vivaldi's popular set of violin concertos. Although the Polar Vortex has made winter something of a bad word these days, the wintry mix implied in the high-pitched strings of Vivaldi's "Winter" delights listeners as much as the simulated thunderstorm at the end of the "Summer" concerto. Such visual music offers a great opportunity for theatrical movement and a fitting choice for artistic director Robert Weiss' 50th new ballet for the company, featuring dancers Sarah Newton, Ashley Hathaway, Cecilia Iliesiu and Elizabeth Ousley. —Chris Vitiello
