A post-racial society? Not.

North Carolina's majority-black 12th Congressional District was drawn in several different ways to combine African-American communities from Durham to Charlotte. The first two versions were struck down as unconstitutional racial gerrymandering by the U.S. Supreme Court. The third, with fewer black voters, was approved by the Court. The district has been redrawn twice more after the 2000 census and the 2010 census but remains "the I-85 district."
