Re: “VFW Post 7383

My name is Amy Sullivan and I am proud to be a member of the VfW Post 7383 in Cary, NC. My mom and dad were members of the VFW for many years. My mom was Past President two times of a VFW lLadies Auxiliary post, not this VfW post in particular, but they enjoyed very much being members of VFW Post 7383. My mom and dad were active members in the post as is my daughter Stacy Mcdade. Stacy has a son named Brayden who is six years old. He attends many VFW events in which are great learning experiences. Brayden wears his great grandfathers favorite hat in which hangs off it medals for bravery that were presented to his great grandfather who was a WWII veteran who served in North Africa and Korea. My dad instilled in me to stand up for your rights and that freedom is not a given many sacrificed their lives so we can enjoy our freedom, The members of the VFW Post 7383 does such great work in helping veterans and their familes which include many great fundraisers. One of which is special to me the Cancer Walks we participated in which my daughter Stacy Mcdade helped in planning and implementing them. I am very proud of my daughters accomplishments. Stacy does not know that I am writing this article. A friend of my daughter has cancer and has a son close age to Brayden. I was hoping she would join the post as she contributed some meaningful signs that are used at some of our events. The news of this friends cancer brought back a memory to me of a woman named Alana Giordano who was fighting cancer and a custody battle in which a Judge named Nancy Gordon listened to a custody evaluator named Helen Brantley state to the effect that the children should live with their father in a world free of cancer and illness. judge Nancy Gordon listened to the evlauator Nancy Gordon no longer serves as a family court Judge in the court in Durham, nc but I believe only as a visiting court judge. . Veterans have many illnesses including cancer so if a Veteran would have been in Nancy Gordons court battling cancer in a custody case or other illness whoever didnt have the illness or cancer should win. I was reading that Nancy Gordon was trying to get a veterans court I believe it was that if veterans commit a certain crime they would go to this court and perhaps be assigned someone to help them as they may need mental help. She also made reference that some are homeless. Veterans need jobs perhaps we can focus on getting them a job education etc. Veterans follow the law i suggest that Nancy Gordon should do the same in reading about the veteran court which I read a lot of articles on Veterans as my parents did I came across Nancy Gordon business of selling baskets filled with different things which include liquor. I followed this up and Nancy Gordon was issued a violation and abc commission is investigating . I have a copy of the violation. No one is above the law . VFW Post 7383 is a wonderful post that does such good work.

Re: “Wake Forest Farmers Market

I have been to most of the markets in the area and we are truly lucky to have so many choices.
The amount of effort and cooperation between vendors and the managers to create these shopping options, can often go unnoticed by the customers who spend their Saturday mornings leisurely strolling the many venues. I am particularly impressed with the Wake Forest Farmers' Market because this group puts on their show with no corporate sponsors or municipal funding of any kind. It's just a 'organic' community of farmers, bakers, craft persons and musicians who team up and bang out a marketing experience that I find truly enjoyable each time I go. From the lively conversations between the vendors themselves and the often fascinating discourse that takes place when a patron asks a question about something that caught their eye.
Though sometimes a little rough around the edges and not as polished as some others in their peer group, the Wake Forest Farmers' Market stands alone in when it comes to my favorite way to start my Saturdays.
