It's impossible to decide what's worse with this guy, the opinions or the writing. Well, congrats at least on getting my rageclick.

Re: “Pizzeria Faulisi Masters Family Style With Adept Culinary Skill

You forgot to mention Treforni in Durham as one of the more noteworthy independent pizzerias in the area.

Re: “Chicken Bridge Bakery Feeds Bodies and Minds with Baked-In Messages of Resistance and Solidarity

Querido Senor Vasquez, Por favor specify YOUR specific Latino country and culture so that we may be assured you only use and enjoy aspects of your life that are ONLY from YOUR specific cultural heritage. If for instance you are from Mexico: "in 1517, Mexico's indigenous (native) peoples included the Aztecs of the central interior, the Maya in the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Zapotec in the south. Their diet consisted mainly of corn, beans, peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, and herbs. Chocolate, native to Mexico, was considered a drink fit for royalty. The Indians occasionally hunted, adding wild turkey, rabbit, deer, and quail to their vegetarian diet."

I do not wish to exclude other Latino specific cultures and will happily include their specific foodstuffs and inventions if you wish, but this text would be too long.

However if you eat rice you are culturally appropriating foods from Asia. If you eat lamb, beef, chicken, goat or pig you are eating food introduced by Europeans (though SOME of those Europeans were of Spanish Latino heritage). You should not speak English (you use a language that is not Latino), use maths (most likely Babylonian/Chinese/Arabic), a television (Scots/English/US), drive a car (Germany), drink milk (beef, goat, lamb all imported from Europe). I could go on and on. I hope you do not buy bread from Chicken Bridge or any other bakery as wheat was an import to Latin countries (with the exception of Spain where it has grown for so long it could be considered indigenous). Corn tortillas are acceptable.

Please take a deep breath, take a pill (preferably Xanax, Thorazine or Valium....oh wait if you live in Chapel Hill, Valium is OK because its inventor was from here but wait....he wasn't Latino!) The history of mankind is of "cultural appropriation". That is how we grow, by learning from others.

From your comments you are a very angry man. I am sorry you are so unhappy. However I am sure you are ecstatic that your rant was published by INDY so we can all be aware of how strongly you stand for your heritage. SALUD!
