Re: “Essay: Punk again

Oh please dangerous my ass. I went to the punkfest last month and all the people where doing where sitting around on their ass drinking beer. And there wasn't even any music mostly. The gentlemen is just promoting his crew and judging a band with out even knowing them. Some of the bands listed are awesome they are just not from Raleigh, but i guess he couldn't read the article before posting his comment.

Re: “Essay: Punk again

Nobody in the ACTUAL local punk rock scene (think members and friends of bands like Bad Idea, Dirty Politicians, The Louts, Shoot First, Blood Red River, Shotdowns, Dead to Society, Antagonizers, Simple Assault, etc.) have ever heard of any of these bands. They certainly don't play our shows or come to our parties. There's always some older indie rockers that feel like they play louder than other indie bands and therefore take it upon themselves to label what they do as 'punk'. Digging punk for a few months in highschool before moving on to Sonic Youth does not a punk band make. Next time you hear about any of the bands I listed above playing shows, come---it's a different world unto itself. Scary, dangerous people that actually live the unhealthy life 24/7. Fun as hell and not likely to remind you of any SST band other than Black Flag. The Indy should do a piece on our scene sometime....interesting read that'd be.
