Re: “David Joy

Thanks so much for the coverage, Indy Week, but my reading at McIntyre's isn't until next weekend: Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2pm. Hope to see you there. And thanks again.

Re: “Horseskull, The Beard, Spiral Down…

It's HORSESKULL'S return home to Raleigh and we want to see all y'all out at the Maywood!

Horseskull (Raleigh, NC) - Headspin Records
"If you like your doom, sludge or whatever distorted heavy music low and cool and unstained from posers and retro dressed chicks and falcettos, here you go." Teodora Mateeva - The Sixth from the Sun.
“Horseskull bring to the table - nasty, sweaty, poorly dressed and most likely drunk kinda music, like a good old-fashioned tavern brawl. Headbanging indeed.” Daniel Maciel, New University of Lisbon - The Brainlesser

The Beard (Waynesville, NC) Formed in western North Carolina on April 20 2014 consisting of former Confessor member Shawn McCoy and 3 other killer dudes Fred, Brad and Ali, bringing you stoner mountain rock at its finest, fans of Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath will enjoy our mixture of trippy slow technical doomy dark happy sad rock and roll.

Spiral Down (Raleigh, NC) - SoSayWeAll Records
Psycho-delicious alt-metal, beware the vampyres! For fans of Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Garbage, Kyuss, Clutch

Re: “Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy

I will be attending the Carl Palmer ELP Legacy concert at The Cary Theater this Saturday. I was disappointed to see no mention of this show in the printed or online editions of IndyWeek, besides this bare-bones listing in the music calendar.
To my knowledge, Carl Palmer is the most significant artist to perform at The Cary to date. (He was a founding member and drummer for Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Asia, with 10 Gold or Platinum albums albums to his credit). He is also, again to my knowledge, the first rock act to play The Cary. Which, if successful, might lead to the opening of a new venue in the Triangle for more regular performance of harder music.
I would have thought that either of these points would have been sufficient for at least some increased coverage by Indyweek.

Re: “Jeanne Jolly, Josh Moore

Greatest singer in the history of the world. An unnaturally talented goddess with a seriously kick ass band.

Re: “Massage for Cancer Patients

I was diagnosed just yesterday with a 15 cm. malignant mass in my rectum. Yes, I'm scared. I'll find out staging next week. Just looking for possible support groups out there. How do you deal with the pain? The nausea? The depression? How do you stay positive?
