Comedy, Program

As 21 Jump Street was a remake about remakes, this is a sequel about sequels. Deputy Chief Hardy (Nick Offerman) assigns screw-up cops Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) back to the beat where they formerly posed as high school students to investigate a campus drug ring. Their not-so-new assignment? Pose as college students to investigate a campus drug ring. The film embraces self-referential sameness with satirical gusto. It all culminates in spring break in Mexico, where the sexual innuendo becomes as flaccid as the hunt for the real bad guys. No matter: The film subsists on the sneaky comic acumen of its stars, whether it's Tatum's blank stares or Hill's loquacious overconfidence.

Director: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
Cast: Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill
