First Triangle VegFest promotes healthy food choices

Posted by on Wed, Oct 15, 2014 at 1:16 PM

If you're looking for ways to make healthier eating choices, consider visiting the inaugural Triangle VegFest on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The event features ample samples of organic vegan dishes to let you explore new flavors, find easy make-at-home options and generally increase your appreciation for just how good healthy food can taste. Among the vendors you can expect to find are Ninth Street Bakery, Fiction Kitchen, Rescue Chocolate, Green Smoothie Girl and Yugala's Kitchen.

Along with health-conscious restaurants there will be representatives from animal sanctuaries and other local businesses such as Cloud Massage. In addition there will be live music, yoga and tai chi classes and a raffle to benefit Farm Sanctuary and Piedmont Animal Refuge.

There will also be speakers such as Gene Baur from Farm Sanctuary, Karen Davis from United Poultry Concerns, Dlip Barman from the Triangle Vegetarian Society and Justin Van Kleeck from Triangle Chance for All.

The goal of VegFest is to celebrate and promote healthy living. It all takes place from noon to 5 p.m. at Carolina Pines Park, 2305 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh.
