Dame good chicken and waffles

Posted by on Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 5:16 PM

Chicken? Good. Waffles? Yes, please. Combine them with hazelnut syrup and chocolate shmear? Delicious. It’s what I imagine a five-year-old would make for dinner if given gourmet training.

I found my new favorite dish in town today at Dame’s Chicken and Waffles at 317 W. Main St., near Five Points in the old Blue Mountain catering space.

They offer classic fried chicken and waffles with hot sauce and syrup along with fancier items, which include blueberry and sweet potato pancakes, shmears made with fresh fruit and grilled chicken.

As Bull City Rising reports, Dame’s is having a “soft opening” for lunch. The restaurant’s website, www.dameschickenwaffles.com, is yet to launch. Meals are a bit pricey, $10 to $12 on average, but come with a side and a unique experience.
