A note about this week's Durham cover

Posted by on Wed, Sep 18, 2013 at 7:16 AM

This week is our endorsements issue, and for our Durham readers, we featured Major, the bronze bull in CCB Plaza, to symbolize the city.

Late yesterday afternoon, as many people know, an apparently suicidal man was shot by Durham police in the plaza near the bull.

The cover photo had been made last week; the paper had already gone to the printer when yesterday's incident happened.

Our condolences to the victim and his family, and Durham police, local businesses and bystanders who witnessed this traumatic and tragic situation.
