Bock, Petty head to general election in Chatham commission contest

Voting results in the Republican primary for Chatham County Board of Commissioners have trickled in.
In District 3, Brian Bock won 55 percent of the vote over former Democrat-turned-Republican Cadle Cooper. Bock will face incumbent Democrat George Lucier in the fall.
In District 5, Walter Petty won over Kim Beal by a 2-1 margin. Petty will run against incumbent Carl Thompson in the fall.
While statewide Elaine Marshall is the top vote-getter for the U.S. Senate Democratic primary, she squeaked by in Chatham County with 1,567 votes to Cal Cunningham's 1,525. While Ken Lewis won Durham County by a sizeable margin with more than 7,300 votes, he received just 446 in Chatham.
