Alan DeLisle seriously injured in stairwell collapse

Posted by Matt Saldaña on Tue, Mar 3, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Former Assistant City Manager for Economic and Workforce Development Alan DeLisle, who left Durham last month to become executive director of Downtown Development Corp. in Louisville, Ky., was seriously injured today when a stairwell in a historic building he was inspecting collapsed.

The building's owner, and the deputy director of DDC, were also injured in the collpase, The Courier-Journal reports:

The three people taken to the hospital were all on the staircase, going from the second to the third floors, Melendez said. When the staircase collapsed, it fell through to the ground floor, trapping the people under debris.

WHAS11-TV reports that DDC were potential buyers of the building, which was over 150 100 years old, and had been vacant since 1998.
