Duke opens women's basketball exhibition play Wednesday against Wingate

Duke will go against outside opposition for the first time this season Wednesday night at 7, when Division II Wingate visits Cameron Indoor Stadium in an exhibition contest.

Coach Joanne P. McCallie’s team went 30-6 last season and is ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press preseason poll.

Duke senior guard Jasmine Thomas was named to the preseason All-ACC team, while the Blue Devils’ freshman class is generally considered the best in the country.

Junior wing Kurie Washington led Wingate in both scoring and rebounding last season.
