Nowak carries big bat as Huntsville tops Mudcats again

The Carolina Mudcats’ road series with the Huntsville Stars is not off to a good start.

Chris Nowak homered and doubled for three RBI, helping the Stars to a 10-2 victory and two wins in as many games in the five-game series.

Mark Rogers (5-7) was the winning pitcher while James Avery (0-1) took the loss.

Dave Sappelt led the Mudcats with a triple and a single and knocked in both Carolina runs.

The Mudcats’ next home game is Saturday night against the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Wednesday’s game
Mudcats at Huntsville, 8 p.m.

Matt Klinker (R, 5-5, 1.98) vs. Amaury Rivas (R, 10-5, 2.67)
