Stanton, Suns deal Mudcats seventh straight defeat

The Carolina Mudcats’ woes continue.

Mike Stanton smacked a pair of homers with a double and a single for four RBI, leading the homestanding Jacksonville Suns to an 8-2 victory and extending the Mudcats’ losing streak to seven games.

Jacksonville outhit the Mudcats 10-7, but had six extra-base hits to two for Carolina.

Chris Denove’s first homer of the season and Denis Phipps’ double produced the Mudcats’ runs.

Tom Koehler (3-0) had a quality start and picked up the win, while Dallas Buck (1-2) took the loss.

Monday’s game
Mudcats at Jacksonville, 11:05 p.m.

Curtis Partch (R, 1-2, 3.21 at Lynchburg) vs. Alex Sanabia (R, 1-0, 0.98).
