N.C. Central took on an ACC men's basketball opponent for the second time in as many games, and while the Eagles got a little closer they still wound up on the short end.

Vincent Davis (pictured) scored 16 points and C.J. Wilkerson added 11, but the Eagles fell 83-53 at Miami in the Hurricanes' season opener at the BankUnited Center.

NCCU had lost its season opener 89-42 at UNC on Wednesday night at the Smith Center.

Adrian Thomas led Miami with 16 points while Dwayne Collins added 12 and Julian Gamble 10.

The Eagles had an early five-point lead, but a 14-2 run gave Miami a 39-25 lead at halftime and the game was never again close.

NCCU coach LeVelle Moton will continue to look for his first collegiate victory on Wednesday night at 7:30, when Division III N.C. Wesleyan visits McLendon-McDougald Gym.
