Duke will have some early-season women's basketball in Mexico this season, playing in the Caribbean Challenge Nov. 26-27 in Cancun.

Duke will play Marquette and Western Kentucky, while Arkansas State, Cleveland State and Iona are also in the challenge.

The Blue Devils are in the event for the first time since 2006, when under a different format they beat Bowling Green, SMU and Pittsburgh for the title.

Joanne  P. McCallie's club returns two starters - junior Jasmine Thomas (pictured) and senior Bridgette Mitchell - off last season's 27-6 team. Also back are seniors Joy Cheek and Keturah Jackson, juniors Karima Christmas and Krystal Thomas and sophomore Shay Selby, Chelsea Hopkins and Kathleen Scheer.  The incoming freshmen are Allison Vernerey of Alsace, France; Alexis Rogers of West Chester, Ohio; and Janee Johnson of Matthews.

Travel packages are available.
