BREAKING: National Republican Senatorial Committee researches Deborah Ross, uncovers the biggest liberal EVER

Well, of course.

Thursday's news that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee picked Deborah Ross as the favorite primary candidate for the U.S. Senate prompted the NSRC to crack the whip on interns to get the real scoop on Ross.

Guess what they found? Wait for it... DEBORAH ROSS IS THE MOST LIBERAL NC DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE IN HISSSSS-TOREE-REE-REE-REE-ree-ree-ree....

Scary, huh? And if you think we're joking, that comes from a citation in a Thursday news release, helpfully provided by the NRSC:

After being turned down by not one, but two potential recruits, the DSCC announced today that they’re giving up recruitment efforts and endorsing former State Representative and ACLU lobbyist Deborah Ross in North Carolina. Ross was also endorsed by the liberal Washington-based EMILY’s List last week.

As Ross cozies up to the Washington establishment, it’s worth noting that Ross has already been deemed, “the most liberal NC Democratic nominee in history."

The "recruiting fails" alluded to in that artful passage include: former Sen. Kay Hagan, state Treasurer Janet Cowell, and former Rep. Heath Shuler.  And the source of that "most-liberal" jazz  is John Wynne, dubbed "the conservative voice of PoliticsNC."

Ah, but the sins don't stop with Ross's "support of radical ACLU policies" (which, as the NRSC notes, two of her Democratic opponents even warned us about).

She was endorsed by Emily's List! She was once recognized among "the top 50 most influential North Carolina lobbyists!” By god, she was even good at it!

So, if Ross, is so "radical" and "unelectable," as the NRSC reminds us, why bother with the emergency press release? Just lay back and enjoy the November afterparty, dudes.

Maybe it's just hard to relax when, like Ross, Republican incumbent Richard Burr is taking shots from both sides.

Plus, he's not all that popular with voters. From Roll Call:

"Richard Burr’s record in the Senate has been a major disappointment for many North Carolina Republicans and we could get involved if there is real chance to replace him with a strong conservative,” [Senate Conservatives Fund] President Ken Cuccinelli said in a statement.

... Burr has suffered from low favorability ratings, and although he has an 82 percent lifetime rating from the Club for Growth, his yearly score has been declining since 2010.

But anyway, Deborah Ross, liberal. So there's that.
