It's unclear what might prompt seven skilled musicians to revisit the soggiest, saddest chapter in rock history. Brain damage? Blackmail? Sociopathy? Money? Whatever popularity yacht or soft rock enjoys is balanced against other '70s runaway successes, like pet rocks and bold-print polyester sports jackets. Yeah, it was a drug-addled era. Even the band's patter sounds trite when the singer declares, "this is for all the ladies in the audience" while launching into "Rich Girl." Other chestnuts covered include "Easy Lover," "Peg" and the '70s' most insipid composition, "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)."
