Who owns Franklin Street?

The people and companies that own the heart of Franklin Street range from places as far away as Santa Fe, East Lansing and Orlando, to homegrown property owners from Chapel Hill.

Using Orange County property records and corporate ownership files from the N.C. Secretary of State's office, the Indy analyzed the composition of the heart of Franklin Street: the 200 block of East Franklin to the 500 block of West Franklin.

On West Franklin, roughly 20 percent of the businesses are locally owned—not national chains—and on East Franklin, that number is about 70 percent. (We included UNC as a local business.)

Follow the links above to a full listing of property owners. To see more information about the owners and the parcels, click on the PIN number in the left column. At the next screen, click on "Property Summary Page."
