OWEN, KEVIN DEVINE, ANDY HULL
DUKE COFFEEHOUSE—Were Mike Kinsella older, he might've told his brother Tim to get behind the drums, instead of vice versa. After holding down traps on overwrought pretense like Joan of Arc, Tim's little bro has finally stepped to the fore with something more listenable. The evocative warmth and quirky rhythmic undercurrents of his solo project, Owen, recalls a better-adjusted, more atmospheric Bright Eyes, sans the swooning arrangements or melodrama. Kevin Devine (Miracle of 86) has a catchy, thoughtful Brooklyn songwriter vibe, while young pup Andy Hull takes a solo turn away from his shimmering indie pop band, Manchester Orchestra, at 9:30 p.m. for $8. —Chris Parker
