N.C. STATE CAMPUS—Dorianne Laux has been called a "believer in desire" who "takes her stance as a hero of the ordinary, with both feet firmly planted in the luminous material world." Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the poet will announce the winner of N.C. State's 2007 Poetry Contest, for which she was the judge. Laux, author of four collections of poems, will also read from her gritty and lyrical work. The free event will be in Caldwell Hall at N.C. State. Call 515-4129 for more information. —Megan Stein
