RALEIGH
Global Warming
N.C. State Campus & The Museum of Natural Sciences—With our clocks freshly sprung forward toward spring, which is but a week away, not many of us are feeling nostalgic for cold weather. This afternoon, Dr. Waleed Abdalati will give us the bad news, that Canada's polar ice caps are shrinking. As the director of NASA's Cryospheric Sciences Branch at the Goddard Space Flight Center, Dr. Abdalati is the rare person who has had an opportunity to share some inconvenient truths with President Bush. His talk begins at 2 p.m. at Stewart Theater. At 4:30 p.m., he will participate in a panel discussion with other experts on climate change at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. Both events are free. —David Fellerath

DURHAM
an oak tree
Manbites Dog Theater—Week two begins of an oak tree, a tale of a hypnotist who kills a woman in a car accident, and his encounter with her father. Dana Marks stars, and every night a different actor will play the father, with no prior knowledge of the script. Visit www.manbitesdogtheater.org. —David Fellerath
