The Glass Menagerie

Kennedy Theatre--There's no better way to avoid a humid summer night than by taking a seat in the spacious, air-conditioned Kennedy Theatre to watch a sizzling take on one of Tennessee Williams' immortal plays. Under the direction of Jerome Davis, artistic director of Raleigh's Burning Coal Theater, the Wingfield family comes to life to act out their disparaging tale of fragility and suffering. See it from June 14-25, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25. For more info, see www.hotsummernightsatthekennedy.org. --Kathy Justice

NC Powerdown

610 Kirby Street--A second-Wednesdays group in Carrboro, NC Powerdown discusses power-dependency issues, assuaging members as they work to decrease their energy needs. This month, the group heads to Raleigh as N.C. State professor Will Kirby discusses his work in permaculture. For more, see oilawareness.meetup.com/216.
