Local 506—Paul Burch plays the acoustic 1950s rockabilly of a rail-riding hobo. His loose shuffle lends itself equally well to Texas two-step or slow grinding on the dance floor. A slight R&B allure coats his vocal chords as words fall forward like honey. Burch plays tonight without his backing band, The WPA Ballclub. The intimate show will mix equal parts seductive jazz and cool country for one hell of a buzz. Expect songs from his seventh album, Still Your Man, released Aug. 18 on Ramseur Records.
