Durham Performing Arts Center—In August 2001, Maxwell released Now, which, to pun, was then: Sales were higher, the prefix in neo-soul didn't seem to be nearing its expiration date and he had that amazing hair. But Maxwell did the commendable thing, bowing out of the sadomasochistic pyramid scheme of the record industry to emerge, nearly a decade later, with a trilogy of albums. With that sort of workload on the docket, we're not sure how he's finding time to tour, either, but he's coming to Durham, nevertheless. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show run $51.50-$127.
