Duke New Music Ensemble
Brody Theatre, Duke Campus—In the Duke New Music Ensemble, undergraduate and graduate music students perform modern classical pieces, often including their peers' own work. This environment provides a crucial forum for exploring substantial new music works, and turning a critical ear to each other's own compositions.

Here, they present a program called We're Indecisive People, featuring a performance of "Imaginary Lines (after Scelsi)" by Marc Jensen. Jensen's piece won the DNME's 2009 Call for Scores. If the reference to Giacinto Scelsi is indicative of his work, "Imaginary Lines" will employ microtonal oscillations, as Scelsi's works were often based around the same pitch throughout. Delve into this beautiful new music at Duke's Brody Theatre, on East Campus, starting at 8 p.m. The concert is free. —Chris Toenes
