Snake Oil Medicine Show

The Pour House—Throw a little zydeco, a healthy dose of Béla Fleck's bluegrass jazz and a dash of Trinidadian calypso into the Southern energy blender of The B-52's. Strain it through the goal of world peace, and the resulting tonic delivers shots of encouragement like, "Alleviate the ache in your consciousness, baby." From Asheville, Snake Oil Medicine Show offers a fun, experimental mix that includes multimedia. Fiddle, banjo and accordion feature prominently in the quintet, while a sixth member onstage paints art inspired by the music. That said, the evening could cure listeners of boredom with more staid music or turn out to be a bunch of hooey. Pay $8 at 10 p.m. Info: www.the-pour-house.com. —Andrew Ritchey
