Pre-Turkey Day Jam
Cat's Cradle—Jon Shain has made a career of exploring Americana roots, though he has been making ties locally since migrating south for Duke University in the '80s and diving into the Piedmont blues. Now in his eighth year of hosting the Pre-Turkey Day jam, Shain will be joined for a songwriters-in-the-round evening by Hobex/ Dillon Fence frontman Greg Humphreys, his new solo record in tow; Django Haskins, leader of pop-noir combo The Old Ceremony; and Mark Simonsen, Shain's former cohort in both Flyin' Mice and WAKE and a current bandmate to Haskins. Valentino and the Piedmont Sheiks, the winner of this year's Triangle Blues Society Challenge, follows. Young Neil and the Damage Done drives it home with Crazy Horse covers. The show starts at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover benefiting the Inter Faith Council for Social Service. —Spencer Griffith
