An Evening of Sacred Music with Shantala

Patanjali's Place—Husband-and-wife team Benjy and Heather Wertheimer, collectively known as Shantala, take yoga to a new level, leading kirtan, or sacred chanting, using exotic instruments and Indian classical singing. Benjy, an accomplished musician, has played with the likes of guitar connoisseur Carlos Santana and tabla master Zakir Hussain. Singer-songwriter Heather, on the other hand, has guided devotional chanting for yoga internationally. Now this couple brings its musical styling and affinity for chanting to Patanjali's Place, a community yoga space that offers everything from prenatal yoga to Middle Eastern dance. This celebration of Hindustani music begins at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
