We Are Scientists epitomize mediocrity in the best sense of the word. There's little danger of being blown away by them, but it's almost equally difficult not to find them pleasantly engaging, at least until the banality wears away your will. The trio delivers bright, danceable rock with a wash of cymbals, percolating bass lines and sunny hooks that diffuse into mist upon impact—as tasty as it is forgettable. The Twin Tigers lean heavily on the reverb pedal to produce thick waves of textured throb, over which Matthew Rain delivers his mannered croon. Rewards open.—Chris Parker
