Ways to make a difference

Here's a way you can make a difference. The Independent Weekly is looking for opportunities around the Triangle--at businesses and special events--to set up a voter registration table.

If you have a location and would like to have our volunteers register voters, send us an e-mail at and write "Registration Request" in the header. Or, if you'd like to volunteer to help staff one of the tables, write "Registration Volunteer" in the header.

In Wake County, citizens may register to vote, make changes in registration or obtain a mail-in registration form at the following locations:

  • Board of Elections, 339 S. Salisbury St.
  • Public Libraries
  • Driver's License Offices
  • Public Assistance Agencies
  • Public High Schools
  • Town Halls
  • Agencies Serving Persons with Disabilities

or go to the Board of Elections Web site at

All voter registration forms must be at the election office 25 days prior to the election. Upcoming elections for local, state and national offices are July 20. Election Day is Nov. 2.

  • John Edwards, Tuesday, June 22,
  • John Kerry, Thursday, June 24,
  • Dennis Kucinich, Thursday, July 1,
  • Erskine Bowles, Thursday, July 1,
  • Wesley Clark, Monday, July 5,
  • Howard Dean/Democracy for America, Wednesday, July 7,

All meetings at 7 p.m.; locations are sent after signing up for each candidate's meetup.
