Wale, King Mez, Kaze

When: Thu., Oct. 20, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $14.50-$18

To prep his fans for the Nov. 1 release of his Ambition LP, Wale recently dropped The Eleven One Eleven Theory mixtape, which is full of his trademark overextended rousing. His verbiage landed him on MMG, the label belonging to the big, bearded guy who wears a necklace with a giant diamond-studded pendant of his own face attached to it and who calls his convertible vehicle a "chicken box." Yes, Rick Ross. In my estimation, Wale will later regret surrounding himself with Ross' stable of ineffective rappers when he realizes that all their urban powwow anthems were fronts, at best. In a video clip made during the recording of Ambition, Wale posed the question, "You're telling me that I can't say that my album is gonna be better than Reasonable Doubt?" Without Ross, maybe. King Mez and Kaze open the 9 p.m. show. —Eric Tullis
