Unearth, Chimaira, Skeletonwitch, Molotov Solution

When: Tue., Nov. 22, 7 p.m. 2011
Price: $16-19

Skeletonwitch is a clear product of both metal's exceedingly fragmented micro-niches and the equalizing effects of the Web. Purists of nothing but the almighty metal, the Athens, Ohio, band draws from all of the genre's major offshoots. NWOBHM melody undercuts black-metal bleakness; the abrupt shifts of death metal push thrash's hurtling momentum into a wobble. The result doesn't feel like a disjointed collage or a soulless exercise; rather, Skeletonwitch's metal mélange is a flood that turns the genre's tributaries into a unified river. Skeletonwitch joins headliners Chimaira and Unearth on this bill, with Molotov Solution opening at 7 p.m. —Bryan C. Reed
