Like several of his more notable peers to emerge within the short-lived constellation thusly described as chillwave, George Lewis Jr.—the singer, songwriter and arranger known as Twin Shadow—understood that his music had best not sit still in its bedroom-pop origins. Forget, the follow-up to the debut Confess, capitalizes on this realization with wide-eyed electronic pop that somehow ups its audacity without ignoring the likable intimacy there at the start. "Castles in the Snow," the lead single, imports bombast and drama into Twin Shadow's realm, the romantic tension within the lyrics mirrored perfectly by roiling drums, icy synthesizers and harmonies that cast Lewis' woes into wider light.
