Founded in 1985, the Turtle Island Quartet sat then at the leading edge of chamber ensembles embracing popular genres. They've continued to delve into the Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane songbooks. Here, they join forces with singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor Nellie McKay to present an evening of Billie Holiday, Billy Strayhorn, and the Weimar cabaret of the 1920s.
