Shout Out Louds
Cat's Cradle—Listening to Our Ill Wills, the second album from Swedish quintet the Shout Out Louds, is like hearing an oxymoron unfold: For every gushy, neurotic protest found in lead singer Adam Olenius' shaky vocals, there's an equal, opposing burst of optimism streaming from his band's cheer. Elegance aplenty emerges from such melodrama, as SOL's chiming guitars and sparkling piano lines transform indie gloom and doom into joyful chamber-pop explosions. With Johnossi and Nico Vega at 9 p.m. for $10-$12. —Kathy Justice

Chapel Hill
UNC Campus—As part of a year-long project called "Criminal/Justice: The Death Penalty Examined," the hybrid documentary-fiction film Execution will be shown at 7 p.m. in Carroll Hall 111. The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Steven Scaffidi and actor (and real-life model for the killer at the center of the story) William Neal "Billy" Moore. For more info, visit www.executionfilm.com or call 360-7432. —Megan Stein
