Chapel Hill

LOCAL 506--Poptronicists from Belfast, Oppenheimer's glitch-glider beats and soft-edge harmonies glow with a near-nuclear energy (J. Robert Oppenheimer pun: four points!), spinning occasional bits of cute love chatter close to Savage Garden into booming walls of sheer sonic sunshine, like Stars backed by their brethren of Broken Social Scene. Bad Flirt and Opening Flower Happy Bird open. Oppenheimer also plays Bickett Gallery in Raleigh with Dan Bryk on Wednesday, Aug. 9. --Grayson Currin
