Carrboro
Ben Sollee
Cat's Cradle—Quick: What do Ben Sollee, Georgie James and Telenovela have in common? They were all on NPR's "Top 10 Great Unknown Artists of 2007" list. However, if Kentuckian Sollee continues to release albums as accomplished as Learning to Bend, his debut from last year, the pundits can soon drop the "Unknown" and just change the year. His cello work in the roots-star-studded Sparrow Quartet made an impression, but it took Learning to Bend to unveil his quadruple-threat status—as musician, songwriter, soulful singer and (via his take on "A Change Is Gonna Come") interpreter. Tickets are $12-$14. The music starts at 8:30 p.m. —Rick Cornell
