Public Nudity Songwriters Night No. 4

Broad Street Cafe—February's installment of this Greg Humphreys-hosted series brings Caitlin Cary and Matt Douglas—who recently joined forces to launch The Small Ponds—to the stage for an evening of songs and songwriting chat. Cary's career has featured collaborations with Ryan Adams, Thad Cockrell, and, in the sublimely folk-rocking Tres Chicas, Lynn Blakey and Tonya Lamm. In all cases, Cary's rich, versatile vocals and keen songwriting have served to make each enterprise gel and ultimately soar. Consider her a force of nurture. And this new team-up with Douglas (himself no slouch with rich, versatile vocals and keen songwriting departments) is perfect-fit glorious. The music starts at 8 p.m. For more, see www.thebroadstreetcafe.com. —Rick Cornell
