Raleigh
Scott Miller

Berkeley Cafe—The only thing more entertaining than an educated wiseass is an educated wiseass with a guitar. It makes perfect sense, then, that Scott Miller has covered songs by Roger Miller ("I Ain't Comin' Home Tonight" was the longtime opener and closer for his late V-Roys) and Tom T. Hall (Miller tackled "I Can't Dance" with the Commonwealth on last year's For Crying Out Loud). They all belong to the same wit-grit-brains fraternity. Just check out "Mary," "Ciderville Saturday Night" and "Sin in Indiana" from Miller's deep catalog. He hits the stage at 8 p.m., sans Commonwealth but with guitar and plenty of lip. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the show. See www.berkeleycafe.net. —Rick Cornell
