Chapel Hill
Dub Trio
Local 506—New York's unfortunately named Dub Trio is a bit more interesting than the handle suggests. Dub is but one ingredient in the band's rigorously constructed, eclectically heavy metal, which jars down concrete hallways wearing a Helmet, letting the dub influence show above in spectral echo effects and unexpected sonic diversions. There's generally at least one regrettable moment every 15 minutes or so with Dub Trio, but when these three studio musicians—who've played with Tupac and Patton—grind and roar and collapse, the force clears away the cobwebs. Pay $8 at 9:30 p.m. —Grayson Currin
