As an aging, erasable baseball scout named Gus, Clint Eastwood stars in this homespun hokum that's the anti-Moneyball. His sassy daughter Mickey (Amy Adams) postpones her partnership track in an Atlanta mega law firm to join her dad—to his chagrin—for a big scouting assignment in Western North Carolina in hopes of healing their strained relationship. Eastwood and Adams' whipsmart byplay carries the film—no one can grouse the phrase "shithole town" like Clint.
