[title of show] is an entirely self-referential musical about its own creation as an entry for the New York Musical Theatre Festival. The show tracks Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell (who actually wrote the musical together; we're telling you, this is really postmodern) as they take on the task of writing a musical three weeks before the submission deadline. Inspiration is slow to come until the pair decides to write about their search for what to write about. Through songs such as "Two Nobodies in New York" and "I Am Playing Me," we get an insider's look into Bowen and Bell's creative process and their festival performance. Ultimately, [title of show] is a tribute to musical theater and collaboration. It opened at NRACT last weekend; this weekend brings the final two performances. —Emma D. Miller
