In her debut feature, writer-director-star Lena Dunham plays Aura, a recent college graduate who moves back into the huge Tribeca loft of her successful artist mother. She's not getting along with her 17-year-old sister, who thinks Aura is kind of a loser, and she doesn't do well with the two crushes she pursues shortly after moving in. Like Aura, Tiny Furniture is mostly likeable and messily honest. But the fact that Aura is extremely privileged gives the film an uneasy feeling that it doesn't benefit from, and the dinky filmmaking doesn't do much to distract us from it.
