REGULATOR BOOKSHOP—Local writer and Chilean expat Ariel Dorfman has been busy, especially after the death of his country's bête noire, Gen. Pinochet. Tonight, Dorfman reads from his story "Gringos," recently honored with inclusion in The O. Henry Prize Stories 2007, where Dorfman shares space with such New Yorker titans as Alice Munro and William Trevor. APRIL + GEORGE ART BAR—Planned Parenthood of Raleigh's Young Advocates is dedicated to protecting the rights of every man and woman to make informed reproductive decisions. Tonight's fundraiser will offer samples of four wines, hors d'oeuvres and even prizes. Proceeds from the event, taking place at 414 Glenwood Ave., will go toward purchasing and installing a security system for Raleigh Health Center. Tickets are $35.
